don731 Posted November 19, 2014 Share Posted November 19, 2014 Looking to replace my old cheap Acer netbook that runs my LOR network. The new HP Stream 11/13 series looks interesting. Any advice? k6ccc Posted November 19, 2014 Share Posted November 19, 2014 If you are looking for a computer only to run your LOR show, why a laptop rather than a small desktop. I have never understood the use of a laptop for a fixed only application. As a general rule of thumb, a desktop will be less expensive for similar performance, and is FAR easier up upgrade down the road. Laptops are not overly well suited for 24x7 operation and tend to overheat when used that way. My other comment is that I would avoid Windows 8.x like the plague if you have the choice. I have a Mac mini that I could use, but doing any work via remote desktop isn't fun, and a separate monitor would drive the price up. My netbook is win7 and very slow.
