NorCal_Vet
Year 2 of LOR-Mania. So I would like to go wireless as I don't really want a Cat5 cable coming out my window (actually I could care less, but the wife thinks it's "ugly" even though it's on the side of the house where NOBODY could see it). I like the LOR Easy Light Linker, but at $250 I'd rather buy another controller. Is there a more economical solution? PS... Not trying to upset LOR by asking for a non-LOR product (I read the guidelines and didn't see anything about not being able to do so.). Thanks for the input! Max-Paul
Well here is the rub. As you know, the communication protocol is not Ethernet so you cant use just any common WiFi bridge or access point. So your going to need to look for a pair of RS-485 radio links. Be able to supply them with power and get the A & B wires on the correct connection of the radios. And I really dont know which of the two wires from the LOR system is A or B. Trial and error there. I wonder if you do find these radios and power supplies. Plus the hassle of getting them wired properly. Will it be cheaper?
kiplorenzo
I have 3 wires leaving the house, LOR, DMX512 XLR and Another Cat5 for E682. Paint the wires the color of the house. Might help the wife. I will tell you that the wireless network will get saturated as there are tons of Packets going back and forth.
Plumber Plays with Lights
I drilled a hole thru the wall and ran a 2 foot cat 5 with electrical boxes and covers. So all I have to do is plug the computer in a jack in the wall and the controller into a jack on the front porch.
