samstone11
Looks like I may be in immediate need of a D-Light cat5 adapter (think mine just died to death). Since I can't find out if they are still in business, I can't buy one from them. What I have always used is a phone modem cord-cat5 adapter. It is square and tan and although it seems rather simple, I was always told it had proprietary wiring to communicate with D-Light's hardware. I use LOR software and intend to change to LOR controllers if and when I can afford it, but for now I have 20 D-Light controllers that don't work. If anyone has such an adapter I might can afford, please let me know. Thanks---Sam
bob_moody
Sam, I'm sure you have the D-Light website .. and to be honest.. I dont know if Darryl is still running or not .. the website is up ..http://www.d-light.us/index.php/home As for the connector, like LOR, I'm pretty sure that D-Light uses RS485.I recall somewhere that you could mix and match D-light controllers and LOR and run them off the LOR dongle .. The contact us page "appears" to be active.. Bob
dan003400
Is the RS485 the same from D-Light and LOR? I have D-Light ACx16's and Want to use the LOR software, how can I do so?? Dan
basis21b
Assuming you still have the original D-Light firmware on the board all you would need to do is to set the unit id using the D-Light dongle, create a sequence in the LOR software that maps to that unit id and run the controller on your LOR network along with your LOR controllers. wt1924
Hello, I use D-Light controllers (8 of them) and added 3 LOR CMB24 this year and I have no problem running them in a daisy chain and I use the LOR Dongle. You do have to have the D-Light dongle to test and assign numbers in the Utility. Samstone11 - Buy an LOR Dongle and keep the show running. After season, track down D-Light/Darryl and get a D-Light dongle. I bought one from him at the beginning of this year. I am speaking from experience. Denny
No problem mixing LOR and DLight controllers. You just can't access them with the LOR hardware utility or change the unit IDs. LOR will control them just fine, provided you know what their unit IDs are as far as sequencing.
bob_moody
I stand to be corrected, but....I believe Darryl is only doing board repairs and PIC programming....no sales. If you know your d-light controller numbers ...great, you can add LOR controllers around them (if you don't have a d-light dongle to configure them) If you dont know the controller numbers then bring them in, hook up one at a time and create a simple 1 channel sequence starting at one. Then test and change the sequence controller by 1 until you find it. Then set your LOR controllers around it. LOR and D-light play nice except for what others have already pointed out.
