portcity_gt
I know a show dosent require much, but chromebooks have very little memory. Id like to put a laptop outside to run everything and you can find those for $
Don
I could be wrong, but I don't think you could install the LOR software on a Chromebook.
portcity_gt
Yea that was also a concern, im not sure if the operating system supports it.
LOR Staff
No, you can not run S3 on a chromebook. Chromebooks run the ChromeOS, and S3 needs Windows.

Max-Paul
Try something like a surface. Although those are a bit more than 120 bucks, more like 900 bucks. No I dont have one. And not real sure it will work, but in theory it should work via the one USB port. And if you want to do E1.31 stuff, suppose that will be via the WiFi port. Anyone got money to blow on a surface want to report their experiences.
k6ccc
My show computer is an HP desktop that I got as a refurb from TigerDirect.com I think I paid $120 for it 2 years ago. It's a 3GHz Pentium 4 with 1GB or RAM. I'll know in 5 or 6 weeks if it handles the increased size of my show this year. A quick test a month ago seemed to be OK. portcity_gt
The one im using now is a beast,i7,8gb,2tb...ect but its in the house,i suppose its not a big deal to run cat5 out to the yard, but i had to put my fm transmitter on the front porch because it wouldnt reach out side for some reason so the rca's for it are kinda a pain. Mr. P
I went to a pawn shop and bought and old 2008 windows laptop for about $75, stripped it down to bare bones and all I do on it is sequencing and running shows. It is now part of my LOR system as that is the only thing it is used for.
scubado
I bought a computer at a rummage sale w/o a hard drive for $5. I don't remember what's in it, maybe a P3, but works for running the show.
crackchecker
What does your show consist of??? If/When you start to get into RGB than you have to have a better computer then too... ( I had to update to a better computer last year when my RGB consumption went up and the old computer could not handle it)
cursesredbaron
I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad 10 tablet this year to program and run my show. One thing I found out while programming is that using the digitizer pen sure makes changing RGB colors quicker than with the mouse of touch pad.
