JeffF Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Not as big a deal to you LEDers but since I still use Lowe's brand incandescent lights I am thrilled! There are some pretty cool decorations this year too. I've already started on my "if these get to 50% off I'm buying" list!
dbltrukr1 Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Did you see the Gemmy Fireworks lights in red, white and blue? My 4th of July show is growing.... http://www.lowes.com/Search=christmas+fireworks?storeId=10151&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&N=0&newSearch=true&Ntt=christmas+fireworks#!
JeffF Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 Sure did... and they were definitely added to said list. Seems like they would be easy to mod to use a LOR DC controller.
MikeERWNC Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 You need to hit Big Lots one month after Christmas.90% off and most that I hit seemed to have full stock left. LED's are the way to go if you are like me and your wife will not allow you to buy RGB, yet.

LED's are the way to go if you are like me and your wife will not allow you to buy RGB, yet.To be honest, we hate LEDs/RGBs for Christmas lighting thus the reason for my happiness with Lowe's. They still carry all the different incandescent colors.
Godney Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Way to go Lowes already spent 300.00 this past weekend .
Deacon Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Lowes and now CostCo in California (Southern California) have Christmas stuff. Was just in CostCo two days ago and they had a full isle of Christmas lights and random props. So hard to pass by all the lights without loading the cart with 50 boxes of lights!
Wychristmaslights Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Walmart and Kmart here in Wyoming already have stuff out!
Larry Leonhardt Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Our Lowes in Texas City has almost all there Christmas Stuff out, They have a 25 ft sleigh on top of a pergola.
MikeERWNC Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I went to Home Depot... This week. The space is cleared and ready to start filling with Christmas.
spoonjr Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I think I got lucky last year as I wanted to add a ton of white lights for this year. I went to wal mart and they had stacks of white LED lights for $1.25 a box. I think this was 3 weeks after Christmas. I bought several boxes, then started thinking about it. I really do need more. I went back two days later and they were now on sale for 50 cents a box. Bought some more. Started to weigh on my mind, I went back and bought an entire flat. I have plenty of white lights now, probably more than I need but that is ok, I have been talking to my neighbor about letting me incorporate his house and yard into my light show.
MikeERWNC Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 The entire Flat?Silly elf. When they are on sale you buy Everything! EVERYTHING!Never stop until you have cleaned out every store for 100 miles in every direction. You can never have enough lights. We really need to work on your thought processes. I have walked out of stores with the buggie stacked as tall as I could manage with NO room left in the Corvette and still made it home with all of my extra purchases.Last year I got three 7.5 pre lit trees and a 6.5 pre lit in a Corvette with a wife crammed up into the dash. They were like 30.00 for all of it. I could not pass up that deal. It just sounds like you hate Christmas to me... Just Kidding. Trying to liven up the forum.
JeffF Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 I did something like that a couple years ago at Lowe's. They thought they were sold out of lights and then a pallet showed up. I was there before they put any of it on the shelf so I offered to buy all the clear lights for 75% off.
Uncle Al Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 That is a nice score! I'm a big fan of the Lowe's lights. Let me know if you no longer want them
LOR Staff Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Did you see the Gemmy Fireworks lights in red, white and blue? My 4th of July show is growing.... http://www.lowes.com/Search=christmas+fireworks?storeId=10151&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&N=0&newSearch=true&Ntt=christmas+fireworks#! They sadly are not impressive
JeffF Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 That is a nice score! I'm a big fan of the Lowe's lights. Let me know if you no longer want them Me too. So far this year I've used 57 clear strands and ~20 gold. Still have two cases of gold and three of red but I needed to order two more of each "just in case". I'm hoping for 10-20 cases of clear at 75% off after Christmas!
spoonjr Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 I would have bought more, but remember, my wife is looking for a support group, I need to be careful around her. Now, yard sales have been another thing all year long. I stop at every one I come across, get jazzed when they have housing development annual yard sales. I have scored new 100 foot extension cords for a dollar, now have several polar bears that will go well with "coca cola Christmas." I suppose you are right though, only buying one flat of 30 boxes for 50 cents a box when I should have purchased every one they had. There is always this year to continue to send my wife over the edge. She can only laugh as my controller for the RGB lights just came in. My 5 year old daughter has the sickness as well as she got more excited than me when the we came home and the box with the controller was sitting on the porch. I will try to get out of the "I hate Christmas" funk and try to step it up some as the season is here and I should be more excited. First step, I am going to start singing Christmas songs as of today. Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy your holidays. Doug
spoonjr Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Oh, and I am quite impressed with how much you managed to get into a Vette. I would have left the wife there myself and went back to get her so there was no chance of damaging any of the trees.
