Last year being my first year I had my show set to randomly play my sequnces for 15 minutes with 30 minutes in between the end of the last sequence. Just curious what cycle other put their show at

I run my show for 1 hour straight then repeat ..no song repeats within  that hour but it also  includes some voice-overs and video to break it up. Been doing it that way for the last 4 years without a problem .

Just let the shows run. Visitors will get annoyed that when they visited last night the lights were going, and tonight they are not. Well, at least in their mind they are not. Even if you have a sign saying when shows are running, people won't necessarily read the signs.

I just run mine on a loop from 5:30-10:00 during the week and till 11:00 on the weekends.  As soon as the last song ends the first one starts again.

My shows run on the hour and the half hour, 15-18 mins long, 5pm till 10pm weekdays, 11pm weekends. I like having the gap between shows to let the traffic clear out...

I have 2 shows that run on odd/even days of the calendar and I tell the listeners so that they can plan a trip back on a different day and see an entirely different set of songs with a couple of favorites playing on both nights. Each night the show goes through 6 songs with introductions to each song giving some facts about my display and about our charitable cause for that year. Go to kevinkolak.com and select a few to view and you'll get the idea. I have people saying to me all the time that "I was over the last time on an even day and will be back on an odd day next time." Each show lasts about 30 mins and run on a continuous loop with no breaks between song number 6 and the start over of song number 1.

Thanks for the responses, I fear with cul-de-sac living and outdoor speakers driving my neighbours nuts with continuous music.

This is a very interesting concept.  I might consider tring this...

That's what an FM transmitter is for. keep the house speakers down to a reasonable amount and let the cars decide how loud they want it.

Yes, the transmitter is a must.  I use outdoor speakers only on the weekends (the most active days).  The neighbors say they don't mind the music playing every night but I just don't want to annoy them.

I have to shorten my shows on busy nights because of traffic, so I had Kevin do a voice over that says show content may change during the season..  I am down to three songs on the week before Christmas because the wait time to get into the cul de sac was just too long..

I run different shows for different times during the evening. We usually have between 30 and 50 songs from which to choose. Early shows have mostly Christmas songs and songs for kid's tastes. Runs about 30-40 minutes. Middle show is 50/50 Christmas and other. Runs about 40 minutes. Late show is about 25/75 Christmas and other, and runs about 40-50 minutes.

No particular reason for the show lengths - it just works out that way. All shows loop continuously during their scheduled times. I have shorter shows ready to go for those days/times when traffic gets out of hand. I'll usually change the shows every week or so to make sure that people who come by at the same time each visit (and I've been amazed at how many people do just that) will always see different things.
