David Spangler
I think I know the answer but I just want to verify it. I can't find the post again but I understand that when you set up a wireless fm transmission for the music to use outdoor speakers along with that setup you need to use a radio then sent that out to the speakers, is this correct? I used outdoor speakers last year which worked great but some people wanted to listen in there car so I want to add the wireless along with the speakers. I did see a post that explained how but can't find it. Thank you for any help or suggestions.
George Simmons
Sounds like what you need is an FM transmitter. If you're looking for something that works excellently for well under a hundred bucks, go to Amazon and search for CZH-05B. It arrives complete and ready to plug in. Avoid, AT ANY COST the Whole House models - they're crap.
Mega Arch
To answer your question, no - you don't need a radio. I've used the above showboard for 3 years with no problems. I know George and many others state to avoid the Whole House model, but it has worked fine for me so far. Now with that said, this is a basic setup. CCR, CCD, RGB ect device props have not been introduced into my setup as of yet (shooting for 2015)....I have a timer that turns on my entire show. The show starts whether I'm home or not using the LOR miniDirector with mp3 player, the FM broadcast starts as well. The only thing I really need to upgrade are these speakers. They wont come on when power is applied - I must push the on buttons. I may try to run separate power to them this year. (Side note - Top picture - The wife really hates that I mounted the showboard over the front door at our new house - but the show must go on - It's for the kids, Dear! ...) Good luck with your show. Box on Rails
you can use a FM radio to pick up your FM transmitter for playing sound outside but what I do is split the sound out of my computer and one line goes to the FM transmitter and the other goes to my power amp that send the sound to my 4 outdoor speakers set up around the yard. Last year I did not have any outdoor speakers so I had a small FM Boom-box hidden in the yard for playback. both methods worked great.
FarrOut
I also use the FM transmitter and boom box in the yard. Works great for me.
