For 2015, I am thinking of using some RGB nodes.  Currently I have some dumb RGB stribs but looking for a new challengae.  Is there a you tube video on what is needed, how to hook it all up, and how to program them in LOR or use another tool like Nutracker?

There are a number of good sources.

1st read the RGB basic 101 on The aussie board. ( http://auschristmaslighting.com/forums/index.php?topic=1141.0 )

If you are adding LOR products ( CCR/ CCP/ etc.) they have some great videos ( http://www1.lightorama.com/tutorials/ )

( The easiest and quickest to setup)

If you are going the DIY route:

David at Holiday Coro has some good starter videos  ( http://www.holidaycoro.com/kb_results.asp?ID=15 )

Seasonal Entertainment has some good ones  ( http://www.seasonalentertainmentllc.com/howto.htm )

Good information.  I want to use pixels nodes on a LOR network maybe with xlights/nutracker.  What is the best / cheapest hardware?  What pixels do you use, adapter, and power source?

I use the sandevices controllers.for what they do the price is right. I also use 12 volt 2811 nodes.  diyledexpress has all the stuff you will need (except the controller).

If you want to use pixels on the lor network you will need to use CCP or CCB..

To use RGB pixels  otherwise you would use them on DMX or E1.31.(dmx over Ethernet).   See above reference to the 101 presentation on the Aussie board.

Read a lot before you plunge.  Last year I missed the lor sale completely and ended up with Pixelnet and could not be happier, Massively less complicated, works extremely well together, gives you maxiumm flexibility to lay out your show with cat 5 cables.  Between diylightanimation.com and falconchristmas.com you could not be in better hands.

Now software wise, I'd do a lot of looking at that before you get too deep into pixels as well.  personally I found light show pro gave the best bang for the buck, imports your lor sequences, was built for pixels and has some amazing abilities, lots of videos on youtube and vimeo.

So I need a Sandevices E682, a power supply and pixels nodes. Is that what everyone is buying the Sandevices E682? Also I am looking to plug this into my LOR controller. Can I just go right from the LOR controller to the E682? I don't see a in and out on the E682-how do you handle that?

Where is the cheapest place to buy them for my 2015 display?

I elected to try the JoshuaSystems ECG-P12S/X card instead of the SanDevices card. I think both are excellent but since I've not tried the SanDevices, I can't say which is better. Mine works perfectly. I use WS2811 pixels from Ray Wu which also work really well during my initial testing. This will be the first year for all this RGB stuff for me
