bobschm
Just bought a fig tree for the yard. The instructions say it can handle cold down to zero, but if it gets too cold for too long, it might suffer. They recommend hanging Christmas lights on the tree and wrapping it with burlap for warmth. Might have to dig out some unused incans after all. Rayburn
My neighbor does this with his citrus trees but uses plastic instead of burlap. I've always thought they looked kinda cocoon-like and creepy. Thought it might make for a cool Halloween effect.
rainyoregonchristmas
My fig is nearly 20 ft tall...that would take a ton of lights. It's been down to 10 degrees and been just fine. The buds are where the damage would matter. If it is a small tree tarping the whole thing may be a better option.
