Coro singing faces

FarrOut

Recommended Posts

I recently bought some Coro Singing faces.

There are 8 segments per face, some require up to 70 lights, some only 20.

If you use these, where do you put the rest of the lights you don't need for the face.

I presume they are just tied up behind the board.

TIA

Dennis

Some people cut the strings to fit and some of us just leave them bundled in the back. That is what i do, now you dont want random blinking behind your board

so what i do is take a black bag cut it in pieces to wrap around the extra and i tape it to the wires, covering the lights. simple solution.

Hope this helps you out.

I just tucked them in the back in an area not behind the bulbs that are used for the face then tapped them to wire. There was no problem disturbing the front of the face. I did cover some of them with tape. I also tried to place the strings so the extra bulbs were in the middle of the run making easy to use them in either direction to replace any bulbs in the future.

If you watch Lowes, Hobby Lobby you can often find 10 and 20 bulb strings.  I buy lots of these and use them to fill out longer strings to help avoid lots of bulbs hanging on the back of the boards.  I have about 30 + lighted coro items from Holiday Coro I use on and off at different seasons in  the year.

I've been thinking about trying to replace lights with resistors.  I have some experience with ohm's law, etc.

As near as I can determine, a 50 light string draws about 200ma, therefore each incandescent bulb would equal

about 12 ohms and consume about .48 watt.

Does that sound about right?

I've tried all the different methods, shortening strings, creating custom length LED strings, etc. But those methods take a bit of time.  And if a string goes dead during the lighting season, then you have to re-create another custom string, which is a pain...

At the end of the day, here's the easiest way to handle extra bulbs in a string....Buy a 10 pack of black electrical tape at home depot for $5 and wrap unused bulbs in black tape (either singles if there are 2 or 3, or tie wrap a bundle together and then wrap black tape on each end of it)...The light from the bulbs doesn't leak out and it's a perfect way to "Terminate" the extra lights in a string...

I'm getting ready to sequence for the faces.

I saw a site somewhere that had some programming examples but I can't find it now.

Looking for sequence examples that show how to form the various vowels and other lip syncs.

Any hints?
