Looking for "Capture" software

I am not sure I am calling this by the right name, but does anyone have any suggestions for free software that is used to capture the visualizer on video?  How are people capturing the superstar screen in action and using it to sell there sequencing?  Is there editing involved because the entire programming screen is not visible?

I use SnagIt. With it you can record a portion of the screen, or the entire screen. It will also capture the audio.

 

I use it to record the visualizer window for clients.

bbflashback is another free program that does the same.as Snagit. just a matter of preference.

Corel's video studio has one too if you have that software. Xcapture I think they call it.

 I tried the 15 day trial, but the audio lagged at times. So I just used a regular camera- see my post in SuperStar.  Once the 15 day trial expires I am going to try one of the other ones.
