godman
Can the LOR CMB24 be used to control Smart RGB Pixels? I know you won't be able to control each pixel individually but could I use the pixels as Dumb pixels even though they are smart? I have several smart RGB Pixel strings (2811) that im using with my P12X card but the budget is tight and I have an extra CMB24 card and about 10 extra pixels that I would like to use if this is possible? Max-Paul
NO, only dumb strips. Smart pixels are controlled on a pixel by pixel. To do this either each pixel or grouped by 3s is controlled. So a controller has to be able to address each chip. So there is a data stream going down each strip. The two D.C. cards can only control the voltage level going out on each channel. No data is present on the channel output. You will need something like a Sandevice 682 or 6408 controller
james campbell
Wont work with that controller. Dumb strips have 4 wires one for ground and positive rgb. The 2811 has positive negative and data. Dont see how you can get the leds to light up with just the two leads
Ron Boyd
http://www.holidaycoro.com/DMX-to-SPI-Smart-Pixel-Decoder-Controller-p/611.htm http://www.seasonalentertainmentllc.com/store/en/56-dmx-pixel-controllers If you have an extra DMX dongle you can use one of these controllers. Each will handle a single Universe. I'm almost sure you can do grouping with them.
