rednosetbird
Hi all,I am dipping into the RGB world now. I just ordered 2 power supply's from LOR for my CMB 24. My question "well my first one of many to come" is there any videos out there on how to use the CMB 24. and how to make a RGB channel?
Joe2000
Well here is a start, a demo but good info:
Orville
After reading this thread and looking at the Video Tutorial list from the LOR link above the forums, I have to say, that there are some videos missing, their tutorials cover the software, but too me, I think it would also be very prudent to cover all their hardware CTB16PC, CMB24, etc.,etc. in video tutorials as well. And possibly even some type of troubleshooting videos that would cover things like what to look for when a channel is constantly stuck on, not working or just partially on, how to use the various controllers and accessories together and what accessories would be REQUIRED for making everything work in harmony. Also any DMX interfacing hardware and how to use that would sure help a lot of folks here too. as well as all the RGB stuff. They{LOR} did such a great job with the software tutorials, so how about it folks at LOR, think you can give us some tutorial videos on the hardware, how to wire, solder the kits, and other info that would be a great asset to those that prefer DIY and even to those that don't? I'd sure like to see things like this, especially if I ever get into RGB, knowing exactly the best route or what I'll definitely need to make RGB work with LOR would be a huge help to me, and I'm sure others that may just be getting into it. How about it LOR, any chance of these type video tutorials ever coming about?
LightORamaDan
I think that is a good idea... We will look into doing some tutorials on such topics. Dan

Orville
I think that is a good idea... We will look into doing some tutorials on such topics. DanThank you Dan! I know pretty much of the basics of using my CTB16PC's and such, but, if and when I ever go the pixel route, I know that one is going to really trip me up. And having worked in Electronics I know how to solder and most of that as well, just don't do it any longer because now I just can't see to do that kind of work any longer. But felt there is a need for newcomers into the hobby as well as some of the now newer older users that are just getting into RGB and the like, seeing I am constantly seeing all kinds of threads about this everywhere, I figured who would be the best professionals to create such videos, and of course, too me, that would be you folks at LOR! So I'm glad you believe this to be a good idea. ~Orville~
rednosetbird
Thanks Orville, Could of not said it better. When it comes to RGB there is not much out there. I am a hands on type of person. show me how to do it 1 time and ill run with it from there. This RGB is so confusing to me. I start to read or try to read the manual and my eyes want to close! its like watching paint dry! The one motto LOR has is its so easy your mother can do this. I wish my mom was a electrical engineer! PLEASE DAN could you please follow through with this issue that a lot of us are having. I have been trying to research this topic but cant find much. It seems to me that a lot of people talk circles. maybe its just me. Is there a service from LOR or a partner to help set up the CMB-24 and how to add RGB channels? I would love to take to some one about this. It would be a great idea to charge 40.00- 50.00 as a consulting fee to walk people through this process or issues they are having. " just a thought"And like always have a great and safe day. Bill
Ron Boyd
Here's a video on how to add the CMB24D and RGB channels to your channel configuration. I also have several videos on my Vimeo page that show how to add CCPs, CCRs, and how to work around the existing Fixture limit in the Visualizer using CCRs instead of DMX channels. You still have to add the DMX channels to the SE when you're finished with the sequence, but you can use CCRs for the visualizer. Vimeo page is in my signature. Hope these help.Ron Edited August 27, 2014 by Ron Boyd

Got a lot of work and learning to do! You guys have got to be kidding........"Not a lot out there"........... I would suggest you read and read some more. There are so many options out there and I would advise you look at some of the other sites that are referenced in what you read here. I know it's overwhelming when you are just starting out. Maybe it's just me, but there is an overload of information out there and products to use. Mega Arch
Ron, Awesome information. I'm in my 3rd year of LOR and am still using other's sequences - mainly WowLights. My display/show is great, but I joined this forum recently to meet people just like you to learn sequencing tips in general. Now, the more I read and study this forum, the more I know RGB / CCR style lights are very close in my future - - - I'm starting now for next year's show.. With all that said, thanks for the postings and tips. Just reading yours is making it seam more doable to me. Thanks again. Dan,I thank you for the tutorials you put on LOR's site as well. I'm glad to see you want to expand the training into this area. It really helps out. Daniel

I hope people appreciate the extra effort you put into sharing information . I pointed and you took them by the hand and lead them to the water..........If I could only get my IE to work in creating links I would be a better man in helping.........darn screen freezes when creating links. I have to use Firefox to make links work. Steve

jonnyci
When I am in the sequence editor and right click and then choose Insert Device Above, I don't have the CMB24D as a device option. Am I missing something?
steve synek
What version of the software do you have? You need a recent version. As I recall, if you have an older version, you can just add a regular controller and than add additional channels manually. Steve
jonnyci
Hi SteveI am running 3.8 AdvancedI do have the CMB16D as an option, does it matter if I choose that and add 8 more channels?
steve synek
jonnyciI think you need at least 3.10.8 to insert the 24 channel DC controller. As I recall, I just add the channels manually. It can't hurt to try it. Steve
