WowLights Sequence / xLights/Nutcracker Conversion

Hi All, :)

 

Has anybody out there also purchased a "ready to go" 12 CCR screen sequence from WowLights and had trouble converting it into Nutcracker? I have tried everything I can think of and I cannot get it to work in xLights/Nutcracker.

Can you describe the problem you are having?  I recently purchased sequences from them, I had to take into account they use a number of macro channels doing an import.

Not sure if I can describe the problem, but I will try  :wacko:

 

When I try to convert the lms file "as is" into xLights/Nutcracker it complains there are tons of unmapped channels. I've read somewhere that you need to remove the 7 extra "ghost" channels they add for CCR's. When I do remove those in LOR sequence editor I can usually get it to convert without the unmapped channel warning. However, when I go to the preview screen to play the sequence its just a total mess. I spoke with Sean the Nutcracker developer at Christmas Expo and he advised me that I needed to make a custom model for my matrix in Nutcracker because the channels are upside down. When I did that, I now have 4 of the 12 RGB strings for the screen/matrix working perfectly, but the other 8 are not working at all :(

The latest version 3.4.5 fixes the 7 macro channel mapping problem.

Thanks Colonel :) I didn't know about 3.4.5

 

I have updated now and that does take care of the unmapped channels warning when I convert the CCR Screen sequence from WowLights into xLights/Nutcracker. However, I still only have 4 of the 12 RGB strips working in the preview screen. If I make effects in Nutcracker all 12 appear to be working fine on the preview display. Just not for this sequence from WowLights.

I'm not sure what exact issue your having? And I can't say that I have exactly resolved anything. However, I was finally able to get the screen sequence I purchased from Wowlights to work in Xlights/Nutcracker  :)

 

First off, I had to make a custom model in Nutcracker to match the way it comes from Wowlights. The great Nutcracker himself advised me that I needed to do that, Thanks Sean! I was able to easily create this in Microsoft Excel using the fill feature and then copy and paste into Nutcracker. The custom model for Nutcracker looks like this

Then all I had to do (hahaha) was label each and every one of the 1800 channels in LOR sequence editor, channel configuration screen. One at a time to match the exact same way I setup the universes and channels in Xlights/Nutcracker. LOR channel config Ex. - DMX Universe - Universe # - Channel #.

 

Note: I just deleted the 7 macro (empty) channels they add to each CCR (RGB Strip) in LOR sequence editor. You don't "have too" but that part only took a few minutes and I just figured I'd get rid of those to keep things tidy since I don't have CCR's.

 

Then you do a simple convert in Xlights/Nutcaracker and you should be all good :D

Oh bummer, it didn't copy/paste that custom model correctly in my above post :( It looked right before I actually posted :wacko:

 

Anyway, that still gives you the idea but it's only 12 rows in the actual Nutcracker custom model...
