pigcorn
I have seen RGB strip at 3rd party sites selling IC 2812 which says is an update (brighter) to 2811, do the 2811 compatible controllers work with 2812? Ron Boyd
WS2812 is a WS2811 chip located under the SMD5050 LED. A nice neat little package. The 5v strip controls each individual pixel. I don't have any experience with the 12v, but as I understand it, it controls 3 LEDs together instead of 1.
smeighan
My falcon-16 controller runs the 2812 fine. The f-16 is split 8 strings of 2811 on 12v and 4 more strings of 2812 on 5v. I got to tell u the 2812's are so bright I dialed the xlights brightness down to 15%
