circleracer44 Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Hello have seen on here that there are a few places around the country that get together and talk, plan, and throw out ideas about this hobby. Example the one in Arizona which i was really inpressed with youtube clip on there. I was wondering if there was any in the Midwest? I live in the northern part of Indiana almost to Michigan and with this being my first year doing the blinky light thing i thought that would be a good way to learn this hobby. So didnt know if there was some around my area at all???

Bizywk Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 The Ohio gathering is definately on my radar of possiblities this year and sounds great. There's also two events being sponsored by the American Christmas Decorator's Conference. The first is a cookout just North of Indy and a second bigger event in Chicago. I plan to go this year. circleracer44 Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 Thanks for the info on the one in Indy that looks to be a possible trip.
Buckeyelights Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Hi Circleracer44, Yes, even the Domers are welcome at Light Up Ohio. We make an exception that day and even make friends with the folks from that state up north. I think it was 1995, the last time ND came to visit; a night game as I recall and you can still hear the echo of "Eddie, Eddie, Eddie". In case you forgot here's a link that might help your memory: http://dispatch.photoshelter.com/img/pixel.gif Seriously, I do recommend attending as many "mini's" and Christmas Expo if you can. You'll learn a lot, but most importantly you'll meet some great people. Most of the people in this hobby are remarkable and extremely helpful. The best thing to do is get their name, phone number or forum name for questions and ideas. The networking is unbeatable. Hope to see you at Light Up Ohio. Joe "Go Bucks"
