htebault
I am starting to plan for 2014 - and wanted to learn how the house outline was done on this display. I am thinking it is rgb strips - but the movement makes me think they are not just dump strips. I really like the effect.
Grinch
They look like smart RGB to me
rainyoregonchristmas
Looks like a pixel bulb rather than strip form. I agree, smart pixels. If you take things like Cosmic Color Pixels and zip tie them to pipe or conduit you'll get outlines like that. Straight, but not laser straight. I like that look better than ribbon. Leaves it with a more like real christmasy light feel than a rock and roll light show.
Ron Boyd
That's Andy's house. His username on here is "harrison0550". I'm almost certain he used 5v, WS2811, square pixels and a J1SYS controller. You can send him a message and verify that but I'm about 90% sure. The 10% uncertainty is whether he used the square pixels vs. the bullet style. Robocrash
Does anyone recognize the sequencing software? I can see how to do it manually, but would love to know if that's a tool - xLights/Nutcracker perhaps?I've been looking for a way to do something similar, but a pixel at a time is tedious. Andy uses LOR, Superstar, and Nutcracker.
dougd
That was from 2012, i believe he used 100% LOR S3 software that year. He uses the bullet style nodes.

htebault
Thanks all. I've sent a PM to Andy, and I also rememened that holidaycoro has a blog entry about RGB house outlining - I think that was what I was looking for -http://blog.holidaycoro.com/2013/04/outlining-your-house-in-rgb-lights.html
kzaas
I outlined my house and fence with the bullet style pixels with C9 covers from Ray Wu, I drilled holes in 1" X 3" X 8' boards and put the pixels in each hole. It was a lot of work but the lights have the look of C9s and are very straight and neat. Check out the videos at the link below to see how it turned out. http://insanelights.com/more-videos-2013.html

Interesting to see the row-lines on the roof echo the edge - looks like lots of setup, but very effective.

aegault
Andy- love the pictures, makes it very clear for me! For your window frames, are the pvc tubes cut in half or slit opened? I don't see how you get the pixels in otherwise.
