Converting LOR sequence with nutcracker

I am a newbie here who is trying to leran about sequencing before I actually buy some hardware in the near future. I've loaded the demo S3 to play with. I'm also interested in using nutcracker to sequence a pixel megatree. I have nutcracker loaded and have been able to create models and sequences for them. I've also been able to export those into the S3 sequencer. I am having problems though trying to convert a S3 sequence for use in nutcracker. The converter errors saying the song length is zero. I am able to convert a sequence I found online to use as an example. When I look at the .lms file from the example sequence I have I can see it is a xml file which is readable. However when I look at the .lms file that I created with my demo version of S3 it is not a readable xml file. There is a comment at the top saying it was created with a demo version of S2 buit the rest of the file is not human readable.

I know there are limitations with the S3 demo version and I'm just trying to confirm if that is why I'm not able to comvert my S3 sequence or if I actually have some other issue.

The sequence you are converting and the audio must be in the same xlights directory. In addition, the song title must match the song title used in the LOR sequence exactly.

The error seems to be saying that its looking for the song, but not finding it.

You will NOT be able to use your demo sequences in xlights. You must have an S3 license to save sequences and use them. If you are testing the xlights conversion process, you can, but with a downloaded sequence and ensuring you follow the issues I mentioned above.

Thanks. That confirms what I suspected. As you indicated I can convert using a downloaded sequence. And yes I have everything in the same directory.

can you paste the name of your mp3 file here?

can you show the show directory path. you can see this in blue text  in the upper right corner of the SETUP tab of xlights

Sean- I think the issue was trying to export a sequence created with the demo version of LOR into xlights. That will not work.

When OP attempted with a downloaded sequence from the internet, the process worked as designed.

My show directory path is "C:\Users\Matt\Documents\Light-O-Rama\Sequences". My song is "04 - Wizards In Winter (Instrumental).mp3". It is located in my show directory. I think jlowe is correct here. It seems like the issue is the output file from LOR in demo mode. When I look at the file I can see it is not xml. I guess that is how they prevent you from using sequences that are created in demo mode to control your lights. I guess the sequencer can read the file but nothing else. If I use a xml file downloaded from the internet conversion works as expected.I also tried creating an annimation with no music and had the same results. The converter could not read the length of the annimation.
