Singing Faces

Well, I ordered my first wireframe singing face. What does everyone use for lights? I am assuming rope lights. Do you cut the lights down for all the segments of the face and put plugs on them? Has anyone used those flexible neon tube lights that they say are cuttable? Thanks for any information. Excited to start working on my first singing face.

You can use incan or LED strings, rope light, or LED strips... lots of possibilities. (I use rope light)

 

Note: Depending on their type, rope light can only be cut at specific intervals.

 

The flexible "noen" tubes I've seen didn't seem bright enough.

Thanks for the information on the neon tubes. They make them sound awesome, but if they are not bright that is a huge problem.

You can also us the LED Light strings made for wireframes and the color combo clips from www.christmas-leds.com

I use neon flex for my singing face. its plenty bright enough. Some that use it find it too bright. I also used it for my candy canes. Check them out in the pic.

Looks pretty bright. Did you buy rolls of it and just cut to specific lengths? If so, was it difficult or require anything special? Thanks!

Mine are dc and can be cut every 5cm. The ac variety can be cut but not in small sections like the dc can. Tools needed are a sharp knife, pliers to push in the pins and a heat gun to shrink the heat shrink the joins. Have a search on neon flex on youtube, that will demonstrate how to make power conections

I made a twenty foot talking star out of cool white LED net lights. Blue LED for the eyes and yellow LEDS for the lips.
 
I was so good, we plan to put a talking Santa up on another part of the roof next year.
