Camcorder settings help

Got a camcorder for Christmas! I need help with the settings for recording my light show. The camcorder has the ability for manual focus, white balance, exposure control etc.

Please give me some guide lines as to what the settings shoulod be for the best results for recording myt light show,

Not sure what model camera you have but I found my Canon HF M40 seems to work best when I use the 'Fireworks' setting.  I experimented with several exposure settings and some came close but none as good as the Fireworks setting.  I would also suggest turning autofocus off. 

 

As for audio, I used one of those MP3 players that has an FM receiver built in and connected the headphone output to the line input of my camera.  Seemed to work quite well.
