EARLE W. TALLEY
I have 100 snubbers that are made with the LEVITON plugs, Part # 48643, and a 47k, 1 watt resistor. I can fit 35 in a small flat rate USPS shipping box (cost $5.80). More information can be seen here:http://forums.planetchristmas.com/index.php?/topic/36988-easiest-terminatorssnubbers-to-make/ $1.00 each plus shipping. plasmadrive
Thanks... For you newbies out there.. if you don't have snubbers.. and you don't know how to make them.. buy some.. use them on your LED strings.

Paul R
I had throught that if you had the newer gen3 controllers that you no longer needed snubbers as LoR built that into the new boards... Am I wrong? -Paul
Surfing4Dough
Newb here.....what is the purpose/benefit of snubbers? http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/6014-whats-a-snubber/ Supposedly gen3 boards don't require snubbers in theory, though haven't seen people discuss real world confirmation of that. http://forums.lightorama.com/index.php?/topic/6152-my-fix-for-leds-flickering-with-lor/

I had to make snubbers this year. It is the first year I am switching over to LED''s. I even bought my lights from a very well known supplier here and he acted like he had never heard of this problem. Well the cat is out of the bag. Lucky the fix is simple and cheap. Surfing4Dough
Many LEDs will fade just fine until you join a certain number of strings together (probably more accurately, once you exceed a certain number of LEDs). I tend to notice the issue once I have about 3 strings in series (~150 LEDs), and obviously no incandescents on that same channel (since the incandescents will create the "load" like the snubber does). It is really only noticeable during very slow fades at low intensities (0%-50%). Maybe some people's sequencing is way too blinky to notice the issue. plasmadrive
Snubbed all my G3 controller outputs this year.. Had to do it to get the proper dimming of many of the LED strings.. and yes they are the full wave kind.
plasmadrive
Got em today.. Thanks Earl... they look exactly like the ones I made.. can't tell them apart..

plasmadrive
Got the email.. thanks.. I wound up needing snubbers on my big trees and some other store bought props.. these are just for backup.. I am going to set my controller like you said and see how they look. Calvin
Got my box today. Thanks Earl. Really had only noticed a few strings not dimming until I added the snubbers to them, I notice a. lunch more that did not dim correctly. And it sure beats a string if in can events. Thanks once more
EARLE W. TALLEY
I have found that a 16PC gen 3 controller works best (if using LEDS) when you set the MAX INTENSITY at 86% and use the LOR CURVE01, it seams to help with the fades and cuts down on the flicker. It also limits the power to the LEDS to about 83 volts or 77-78% which is all that LEDS need to reach max brightness, thus cutting down on failures. EARLE W. TALLEY
Yes we should and some have tried, I have tested dimming curves from 2-3 different people, all seem to have a problem at the low end. I not sure what the secret is but the curve01 works best for me.
