boomersooner550
I have seven controllers and I am only having this problem on one of them. Whenever the lights are turned off on the box there are a few strands of lights that still remain on at about 10%. I do not know what I could do in order to troubleshoot the problem. Are these LED strings? When you say only the bottom 1/3 of a string is on, makes me think it's LEDs. Unplug the string from your setup and plug it into a regular outlet. I'm guessing those lights will still be on. If so, you've got a string of lights that has gone bad.
Max-Paul
Well I would think that those lights will be on if you plug them into a regular outlet. They are supposed to do that Don. If they didnt light, then I would say that they are bad then. I suspect what is going on is that the Triac is leaking a wee bit of current. Enough to just barely cause the LED (low current requirement anyway) to light up. In past years this is an indication that the power (Hot versus Neutral) was reversed. Thus the controller was only switching the Neutral side and 110V in reference to ground was always at the lights. This year I have done a visual and looks like my hots and neutrals are right. Going to double check with volt meter tomorrow. Mean time some of my single string LEDs are like yours about 10% on. Will post again if I find something. But my guess is going to be that the Triac is leaking. Maybe a preclude to a failing Triac, Maybe?
