What is up with this stupid director controller and the hardware utility. I have upgraded the firmware to v25 on the g3. I have the latest LOR software suite (adv). I use the hardware utility to create a show with 5 sequences in it. All 5 are loaded into the hardware utility and it copies all of the data to the sd card and says it is successful. Takes about 10 minutes for this to complete. Then I take the SD card out and I get an Init error - no show on card. Have rebooted the computer. Still does not work. Check all 5 sequences in the vizualizer and all are working.

For the money I paid for this stand along director - it has been a major pain in the butt. I have spent 6 hours today trying to get this to work.

If the Hardware utility tells you the files are copied to SD card successfully, why does the director not recognize them?

Extremely upset.

Followup to this issue. I have two SD cards, both 4G SDHC class 4. One came with the unit (Kingston) and the other I picked up at Staples (SanDisk). The SanDisk SD card does not work in the Director. I can create shows using the hardware utility and the files all get copied over to it and when I put in the G3 it says no shows on sd card. I took the other SD card, copied the files to the SanDisk and it did not work. I took the original files written to the SanDisk, copied to hard drive and then copied to the Kingston SD card and they work in the G3.

Has anyone experienced similar? I wanted to have two SD cards, one for what is running and one that I could create or tweak existing shows and then replace the SD card.

The card was only $20 but I don't want to just go an buy another one since this one seems to work on the computer and SD USB adapter, but not in the G3 unit.

Are there some sort of hidden files or something else on the SD card that I am not seeing?

Both cards are formatted for FAT32.

I also got the new g3 and was having issues with getting the 2nd network to turn on. Simply gave up and went back to the computer. Also spent many hours trying to figure it out.

Hi Ross, Are you using the USB reader that came with the G3 ?

  • The Directors are very pick about what brand of SD card is used. And what size.

I picked up several Lexar 2GB cards, formatted as FAT32 and been working wonderfully.

My G3 came with a Kingston 4GB Class 4 HC SD card. I bought a SanDisk one at Staples, exact same size and same class. Does not work. I have not been able to find any SD cards locally that are less than 4GB. I picked up a few different ones at Best Buy (all 8GB) - gonna try them today and return if they don't work. I will see if I can find some smaller SD cards from Amazon/online and see what happens. So frustrating and nothing from LOR support either. That has me a little ticked off.

The newer firmware (for the past 2 yrs or so) eliminated the need for smaller SD cards with the directors. So I am sure the new G3 director is the same.

Got a response to my support ticket (very quickly) regarding problems with SanDisk SD cards. They have tested on a lot and the only ones that don't seem to work are SanDisk. Sure enough, my PNY one that I got from Best Buy works. Glad I did not open the other two packages that I bought to test since both are SanDisk.

Well at least I now have 2 SD cards.

Now I can continue to refine the sequences and can easily swap out cards.
