Securing Cosmic Color Pixels

I am working with CCP's this year on a mega tree and read a few spots where it is recommended to secure them to a wire or string.  Does anyone have any suggestions on a method of securing them?  Would zip ties damage the pixels or wires if secured to tight and if so, how do you secure the CCP's to a string so they don't slide down when hung?

Go to this site and down load the manual.  It shows attaching pixels to polyester strapping using electrical tape.
