Best Place to buy cheap Wholesale LEDS

Most standard "dome" style LED lights at big box stores cost around $10 for the cheapest, store brand 100ct sets. They seem to work fine, and from the store brand LEDs I currently own, they seem reliable enough to invest in.

Anyone know suppliers that sell wholesale LEDs for cheaper?

Yep Walmart has them, 450ct bulk box for $39.88 & they have the neat traditional style M5 Cap style.

I hope there will be a bunch left over after christmas so I can pick em up on sale.

Im sure there are wholesalers... I just cant find any. I even contacted direct suppliers from China, and all their prices are much higher or are equal to retail even when ordering 1,000, 100ct sets.

if you have a tax-id for a business you can still get wholesale at several places.. without that, best pricing will start in january-february from vendors.  problem is many of them were no longer allowed to advertise here so they went elsewhere

I have a tax id and still 10.50$ a box of 70count 5mm :(

try talking to your local store about ordering in bulk. my store is willing to work with me so I may go that route.

Did anyone ever figure out is LED's are even worth investing in?

I mean they cost over 4x more than incandescents ($2.50 100ct Ican vs $10.98 100ct LED)

Its hard to imagine they will pay off within even the first few years.

I think a lot of is try to pick up what we can after christmas when the box stores clearance everything. I have had great luck talking to the managers at my local lowes and target and tell them what I go and they cut me a great break in price. Also like gc75067 said the presales from vendors are pretty good just need to know where to look now.

If you add in the cost of a sub panel to run all the lights that some run then I believe it is.

I think it is all personal preference, and the amount of lights you have. My show is usually less than 10,000 lights. But I like to throw away (recycle) the lights that I put on the house with black tape on the bulbs.

depends, the amount of lights you could use per channel could drop which may force you to buy more controllers.  really depends on how many total lights you would be running and if you were to ever plan on running all lights on at the same time or not

I'm not sure how many you are looking for.  Email me at info@hitechlights.com and we'll see what we can do for you.

Personally I think the LEDs look better than incans but for a large display, the controllers will only handle so much current when looking at incans...LED's draw so little that the power bill savings can be considerable. Again, depending on the size of the display or the total number of lights within, LED's might pay for themselves in the first two years. Last year, I ran 96 channels and probably %95 LED. My power billl was only about $12 more for the whole season.

I think this is my last year on Incandescent minis.  I've always purchased new lights every year from Lowes.  This year about 10% of the strings have issues.  I don't know if they changed suppliers but I am tired of returning these lights.

Incandescent lights are a lot easier to troubleshoot and repair whereas LED's are a pain in the posterior. Still, I think LED's are worth it. There's something to be said for the more reliable string sets from the online Christmas suppliers. I don't spend for them except on my megatrees and those weren't cheap but they work and hope they'll continue working for the long term.

What kind of discounts did you manage to get?

i dont have the list from where i ordered from in front of me but the pricers were pretty close to what you see on some of the wholesale sites.  the person i bought mine from was semi-local and we met at an event which saved me probably more than $300 on shipping so it was very worth it for me
