htebault Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 I just ran into a variation in style/standard/size of two different "waterproof rgb connectors". The ones I had on some RGB strips - and the pigtails I used to wire them onto the CBM24D board all work fine. They are 4 conductor, and they fit.I just ordered some "waterproof rgb cables" as extenders - and they fit into themselves, but do not fit onto the connectors or rgb strips I have. I did just write to the customer service group at that vendor asking for their input - Are there two different 4 conductor, waterproof connectors that are used in the RGB marketplace? If it helps, the RGB ribbons I am using list a waterproof IP68 rating, and are 12v, 5Meter 5050's.
htebault Posted November 4, 2013 Author Posted November 4, 2013 I have measured the different units - One unit measures 15mm OD/12mm ID across the male plug, and the female socket is 16mm wide inside. The units I got from vendor two measures 13.5mm OD/10.5 ID across the male plug, and 14mm inside the female socket. Both units have the same 4 pins, that are 5mm between them in a square arrangement. The pins appear to be the same size. The pin plug/socket is also keyed with the “D” type. Both also have the O ring gasket and threaded attachment for waterproofing. I have heard back from one vendor who says he had not had problems in the past, but will update his product with measurements. I am still wondering what standard is for this connector - obviously there is more than one size for a Waterproof RGB 4 pin connector.
