Max-Paul Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Might have been a lot of work. Ok, was a lot of work, but dang it looks real good Plasma. Great job! How many 6804's did you say again? I am thinking you said that you did all of this on just 2 units? Sweet....
plasmadrive Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Might have been a lot of work. Ok, was a lot of work, but dang it looks real good Plasma. Great job! How many 6804's did you say again? I am thinking you said that you did all of this on just 2 units? Sweet....Thanks Max, It was a lot of work.. LOL I am using 2 6804s. Technically I could have gotten by with one, but it would have been harder for me to program in LOR.Where do you get these?Troy, I made them.
plasmadrive Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Where do you get the materials? Most of it from China. Ray Wu for the WS2812B flex strips, end caps and connector cables. I bought DC-DC converters from a company in China that is a pain to deal with. The single large 24vdc supply from my junk box. E6804s from SanDevices, the Pixel Extenders from J1System, the Cat 5e local vendor as well as the heatshrink, wire ties, silcon and conduit. The bucket truck from Craigslist, the ladders from HD. The screws I pulled out from last years display. The blood sweat and a bunch of tears from my mother's side of the family, and the swearing I learned from my friends. Ok.. it's early.. I am aloud to make fun until 10am.
NWSanta Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Wow, those look great. Would you mind doing a small schematic of how that all ties into LOR and then how you program it? Those are just too cool. Funny I was just looking at SM5050 LED strips from China today but, told myself WAIT until next year!!!! Very nice looking!
plasmadrive Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 Thanks, I am glad you like them. In the Dropbox there is a PDF down at the bottom. That is the power and data thru put scheme. You have to drive them from whatever interface you want to use. I am using 6804 boards fed from a wireless bridge that ties the E1.31 from LOR to the 6804s. Sorry, I don't have the time to put anything more together for these. It is pretty much however you want to convert and deliver data. Lots of ways.
NWSanta Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Great thanks. The PDF helps. I am going to get my feet wet with this stuff next year. Just getting started again....
