Im assuming you guys are just bending the ccr and zip tieing at every soder joint. Seems like this is going put a ton of stress on the strips.ive tried them facing up on the arch but it looks bad. Ive searched for a couple of days but cant find a complete answer. I see arches and circles on videos but cant belive you can bend them that much

You're correct to be cautious with the CCR ribbons as they're quite fragile.  Always keep that in mind whenever you actually touch one.

I believe the book says you can bend CCR's the flat way into as small as a 3' diameter circle.  I haven't tried that, however if you're careful you should be able to get them onto arches.  Use at least 3/4 inch pipe, zip tie only over the connectors between pixels and don't cinch the zip ties any tighter than needed to hold the ribbon in place.

Dan,

I did exactly what George is describing on two CCR arches last year, and as of 2 weeks ago, they still worked fine.  Keeping them permanently affixed to the 3/4" PVC should help protect them when storing.

Another option (and the one we are going with....assuming you are speaking of "leaping arches"?)

Using 3/4" PEX tubing and inserting the strips through the PEX tubing.

We get it in 10' milky white sections and use CPVC connections.

The colors stay vivid, the distinction between pixels is good, the strip is protected and you dont have to zip tie it down...

Working on a HowTo for our website showing what we did... Hope to have it up in a day or so.

We tested ours the other night and it really looks good ..

Thought I would add.. that we cut down the PEX to about 8' or so and made 2 arches from 1 strip. We have 4 arches total. Also should add we are not using LOR CCR's but the afermarket equiv.

I zip tied 2 CCRs to the outside of 1/2 inch PEX tubing 8 foot long for 4 arches. had to bend them a little so they could face outward and they are still working fine even after stripping them off the PEX. This year I am using the 2 CCRs for the Halloween display as a back wash for the walls by hanging them under the eves of the roof. In November I'll Arch them up again. well see how long they survive doing this each year. After reading Bob Moody's post I might try that but I think it might take 1 inch PEX for the CCRs to fit inside.

Bob what is the "after market equivalent" you are using?

Here are the strips I am using ...

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/5m-led-digital-strip-DC12V-input-WS2811IC-256-scale-10pcs-IC-and-30pcs-5050-SMD-RGB/568458133.html

They are more similar than equivalent I suppose.

Physically ... pretty close ..

Electrically .. they do use a different chip set.

But they do fit nicely inside 3/4" PEX..
