callycoon Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Hey guys, not sure if this is a software or hardware issue but thought I would try here first. I tried to test my CCP's today and noticed that when I plugged the 2 strands into my computer that there is a very noticeable lag in both the lights and the animation window on the sequence editor. I was wondering if this is a software issue or a hardware problem. I am currently running 3.10.6 standard and using the standard USB485 adapter with the double ferrite plug. I have two sets of CCP's daisy chained together with standard CAT5 (green kind from LOR website). My show consists of two CTB16PC controllers, two sets of CCP's, two 7 channel faces, one 8 channel face, 6 blow mold pumpkins, about 6-7 strands of orange lights and 2 flood lights. As I said the sequencing is all done and I am testing, but all I am currently connecting to the computer are the CCP's to check color rendering. When I watch my show without anything connected to my computer everything looks great in the animation window, but once I plug in the CCP's and they really start moving is when I see issues. I have been running LOR for 3 years now without this problem and my only addition this year is one of the 2 strands of CCP's. My suspicion is that my USB 485 is the issue and is not keeping up but thought I would check with the experts before assuming and wasting money on an upgrade.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Chris
ItsMeBobO Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Hi Chris The CCPs can accept a faster speed communication. But I dont think the CTBs can. If you were to get another adapter just for the CCPs, then In LOR network settings use 500k setting. For my setup I always change the settings of the com port to 128k in device manager. Was the sequence created in SE? if you are changing all pixels to white one at a time like a flash that is a burst of commands. You can cut that flash to a third by trying Red to see if that helps. Or you can change all to white at once by just setting pixel 1 to white and Resolution to 1.
callycoon Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Bob, Thank for the help. The sequences were created in the SE and it is not really happening with all white bursts. The sequence looks fine in the animation window and runs fine during simple chases and full color flashes. The problem seems to occur when I move to using color fades accompanied with numerous chases and shimmers combinations and again I only notice this problem when I have the CCP's plugged into the USB port on my computer. When not plugged in everything looks fine on PC. The CCP's and mouth movements become very choppy. I will try to plug my whole show up this weekwnd in the garage and see to what extent the issues effects everything. It seems like the system is getting bogged down. I am trying to nip this problem quickly since i am about to take my family to Disney for a week and want to be ready to start running my show first weekend of Oct. I will attempted to change the com port setting tommorrow. Thanks again for the help and any other suggestions would be helpful. Chris
LORisAwesome Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Are you running the sequence in the sequence editor? I had a problem a few years ago trying to test in the sequence editor, when I put the sequence into a show and ran the show, the problems vanished. Jerry
james campbell Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 if you run just the sequence witout the visualizer I bet it would be fine. if you have all your sequences finished then just setup a show and run that, running shows takes very little memory(unless you have a bunch of pixels)
