I want to add about a dozen jack-o-lanterns to the display...

I cant carve a pumpkin to save my life- anyone have a line on some plastic jack-o-lanterns I can buy off the shelf and either use as-is or add lighting elements to?

Thanks!!

Walmart has them for $1 each in the trick-or-treating candy section.

Like the candy pails?

I thought about those, but I thought the big hole at the top would make them less than useful....

Cover the top with an oversize piece of plastic (orange) and put your waterproof light(s) inside.

Some people (Shaggyss) used the black body versions and cut out the face, put led lights inside and made some great color changing pumpkins.

Michaels carries some but they are a bit pricey, you could try thrift shops and yard sales.

I was at my local thrift store and they must of had about 15 on the shelf priced from .50 to .75 each

So i tried putting a candelabra replacement lamp socket in the "walmart bucket" and it looked pretty good.

But then as I was going down the aisle in Homedepot i saw lit jack-o-lanterns for $7.

My walmart bucket $1

lamp socket $5

my frankenstein creation $6.... not much of a savings over a nicer looking pre-made one :-) Doh!
