rainyoregonchristmas Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 One of the many of our holiday traditions we carry out today is almost exclusively due to the Model T Ford. What is this Labor Day activity, and who do we have to thank for it??? (((The only prize for a correct answer to this question is a rose to pin on your nose, and bragging rights to call yourself MR (or Mrs.) Smarty Pants! (Rose and pants not included).))) -RainyOregonchriStmaS
dslowik Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Ahhhh. The Model T Ford. Otherwise known as the Model T - Filament Oriented Radical Design. Those were the first mass produced Christmas lights. It was the predecessor to C9 lights. The filament was shaped like the letter T and this Labor day we honor the fine men and women who put the lights together by hand. If I remember correctly, it was Kris Kringle who suggested the design. Or I might be wrong...

rainyoregonchristmas Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Henry Ford and E.G. Kingsford founded the Ford Charcoal Company in the 20's later to become Kingsford Charcoal. Ford, after seeing the wasted wood resulting from the manufacturing of wooden spoke wheels, had them saved and turned into charcoal briquets. There was a time in which you could go to your local Ford dealership to go and buy charcoal.
