How many songs will you have for Christmas 2007?

You guys do know that the more songs you have the longer the people will stay and this can create a problem with traffic.

So here is my list:

Christmas Vacation
Porky PPig Blue Christmas
White Christmas Drifters
Yellow Snow
Small World
Armed Forces Medley Performed by the Air Force Band
Rockin Around the Christmas Tree Cyndi Lauper
I Want a Hippotomus for Christmas

Right now I have five finished.

I have voice overs throughout the show with reminders and song introductions. The songs amount to about 27 minutes. This means the show will repeat about eight times on week nights and ten on weekends.

If I have time may do one more song.

Oh so you know there are three coro projects two of which sing two different songs. One of those have four different singers. The third coro project hast two characters who introduce a song or two and ask for donations to our charity they also go over a few rules from time to time.

I am not going to have more than 5 songs (of 12) in a rotation on a night, and will trim it down to three on high traffic nights (Friday and Saturday) to keep traffic at a reasonable level.

I also run my rules between every song.

Mine will be 15 minuts of music and 15 of animation then 15 of music then 15 of animation. I have a big parking lot on both sides of my display so most people park and walk around for a bit.

I edit songs for time then mix and crossfade songs into montages. I sequence the entire mix (each between 12 and 14 minutes long). These are my selections:

(1st Mix)
Mannheim Steamroller – White Christmas
Mapa – Sleigh Ride
Mannheim Steamroller – Good King Wenceslas
Celtic Woman – Away In A Manger
Canadian Brass – Jingle Bells
Trans-Siberian Orchestra – Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desire
Chicago Symphony – Hallelujah

(2nd Mix)
Mannheim Steamroller – O Tannenbaum (edit)
National Philharmonic Brass of London – For Unto Us A Child Is Born
Choir Of Kings College – Coventry Carol (edit)
David Foster – Carol Of The Bells
Trans-Siberian Orchestra – Mad Russian Christmas

(3rd Mix)
Vince Guaraldi – Christmas Time (Linus and Lucy) (edit)
(Unknown Orchestra) – Sugar Plum Fairies
Mannheim Steamroller – Deck the Halls
Vince Guaraldi – O Christmas Tree
Vienna Choir – Christmas Bells
Trans-Siberian Orchestra – Wizards of Winter

I limit my displays to "by appointment" to lessen the traffic load on my street. I run small animated (without music) display at other times.

Wow! So many of you have so many songs done, I'm almost ashamed to even add what I have. I have no musical talent at all, so it takes me forever to sequence. For my 1st year, with 40 channels.....

1) THX intro
2) Wizards In Winter - TSO
3) Midnight Clear - TSO
4) It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year - Andy Williams
5) Rockin Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee
6) White Christmas - Bing Crosby
7) A Mad Russians Christmas - TSO

Just over 16 minutes, and the voiceover messages add about another minute or so.

I'm embarrassed to say, with the fantastic lists here, that I'll only be running 3 songs this year :(:(

Carol of the Bells - Manhiem Steamroller
Queen of Winter Night - TSO
Wizards of Winter - TSO

Had grand illusions for a longer list, but life has gotten in the way. Poor poor, pitiful me :P

Is this your 1st year?
I want to do Carol of the Bells, and I actually have started sequencing it, but I'm not satisfied with what I have done, so it kind of got shoved to the back burner.

Nope, second year with LOR. You can catch a video of last year's Carol of the Bells here

If you search on "dm9991966" you can take a look at the other 2 videos from last Halloween and Christmas as well.

I purchased too many new controllers and couldn't afford a transmitter so I will just sit and watch the lights change.

Anthony,
That can be just as nice!!! Passerby's won't know that there is suppose to music, they will just think you have a great display by the way your lights dance! Keep an eye out on ebay for a transmitter...you might get lucky!

James, try it with over 400 channels.

Of course about 50 of them are pretty much static channels but the rest are moving.

I like to direct attention to a specific aspect of the display during the song. So other items will be fading or about half intensity. My goal is for people to see all areas but still concentrate on the feature items.

Anthony - you may want to pm Daniel. He writes in his signature that he can modify a $15 belkin and get decent distance out of it.

If you are interested in radio this year.

Thanks for the info but I dont sync to music. I would rather just watch the lights. I have blown my budget big time this year and will do the music next year. Music for me isnt that important.

Wow, I don't know how you guys do it. Last year, I had 5 songs not counting intros and between song music. I was thinking of cutting it back to 3 this year to thin out traffic a little bit.
