You'd want waterproof, jacketed strip. But from your description, it sounds like you want to have them chase (megatree and arches), which would mean you should look for a pixel based solution. Standard Basic/Dumb RGB StripPixel Smart RGB Strip You might also want to watch the RGB video series for general background information and when done with that, read the outlining your house in pixels article - this article provides explanations on many of the same questions you will have one your megatree and arches.
