Sheldon_15
I only have 4 channels for my megatree . Plan to make it 4 channels on each side but eight strings total so 2 string per Channel.. Is this possible or will it look stupid?

Ron Boyd
Sheldon, you can do something like this. Pretty much what caniac said, but up and over so it will look like 8 channels. Edit: Duh!!! That's what you said, didn't you? Edited April 23, 2013 by Ron Boyd

How could I draw this out so I can see what it would look like? I'm assuming the tree wizard, but I have very little experience with it. I'm thinking of putting in "mini mega trees". I can set them up this way, but use 8 channels, so I have 16 "strings". Since I have a limited number of channels, I'll have to connect each mini mega together, so that each is a mirror of the other....that'll be fun to figure out the wiring. Ron Boyd
When the tree wizard select strings up and over and I think that's what you have to do to build that tree. After I pick up my boy from school, when I get home I'll see if I can come up with one like that and I'll send it to you.
Jeff Messer
Shelton, Hope all is well and I can't wait to see your show this year. Have you run out of channels already to only do a four channel mega tree? Jeff

Here is a single strand, 8 channel, up and over mega and a double strand, 8 channel mega. pick your poison. Hope this helps Ron
TheJackal
I would do no less than 3 strands going 'up and over' per channel. This also depends how big the 'megatree' will be. You can get away with it on a 10 footer, but any taller, you'll need more strands or channels. Have you considered mini trees for this year? You can have 8 trees (2 trees/channel).....maybe lining your walkway, driveway or something else.
Klayfish
Ron,That's awesome, thanks!! I need to spend time sitting down and learning the visualizer. I wouldn't have known how to make those. I can take one and insert it into an existing file, correct? Jackal,I'd agree with you that on a tall tree, doing only one or two may leave the tree looking bald. But I'm thinking about doing mini megas, about 3' tall or so. I already have 8 mini trees that are 54" tall each, and they use one channel each. I'm only working with 32 total channels, so I have to spread them out the best I can. At least in my mind, a mini mega tree with 8 up and overs will look pretty cool...especially if I do double strands of up and over. By the way, how's Denver? My company has an office in Littleton. Coworker was out there last week and it was snowing...that would drive me nuts. Cold and snow, then 60 degrees two days later. Though I have to say I've been out there 3 times and I find it absolutely beautiful. I'd be outdoors all spring (the warm part) and summer. I can take one and insert it into an existing file, correct? That is correct. Just save the file, Export the prop to where you're saving them, usually in your LOR Visualization folder. Then, all you have to do is import the one you want to use into your existing .lee file. Don't forget to change the controller and channel configs. I set them up as ID 1, channels 1-8 and ID 2 channels 1-8. Glad I could help.

I'd be outdoors all spring (the warm part) and summer.I was going to start with 32 channels until the Mad Grab sale. Instead of 2 complete controllers, I managed to snag 3 boards. Since your thin on channels, I wouldn't try and do TO much. Even with 48 channels, I'm trying to keep it simpler. Sometimes simpler is better. Now you got me re-thinking my display. I've been in Denver about 8 years now and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.....until retirement . My friend told me before I moved here....'If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes'. Didn't realize how true that statement really was.April 8 - 72 sunnyApril 9 - 23 and snowApril 10 - 24 and cloudyBy the weekend it was in the 60's again.Because of the altitude and low humidity, anytime it snows, we just need a little bit of sun and the snow disappears.
