Generation 2 vs. Generation 3 Controllers

I have bought about 20 CTB16PC controllers over the past five years.  I want to upgrade the firmware to take advantage of the faster speeds.  However, there appears to be different firmware for the Gen 2 and Gen 3 controllers.  How do I tell which type I have?

The second generation boards have a red status light.  The third generation ones have a green light.

Being color blind, I didn't notice the difference in color.  Anyway, it appears most of mine are second generation and have either v4.32 or v4.40.  I will upgrade them all to v4.40.

However, I have 4 boxes that I bought in March 2012 that are generation 3 and now I'm confused.  The box has firmware 16PC-G3 Ver 1.04.  When I go to the website it shows CTB16PG3 Ver 1.05 is the latest for the commercial controller and CTB16PG2 Ver 1.06 is the latest for the residential controller.  I have the residential controller in the plastic box, but it appears I have the commercial firmware!

Any suggestions what I should upgrade to? (or not upgrade).  Or should I open a ticket with LightORama?

Rick, the boards that have v4.32 will not update to v4.40, and the ones that have 4.40 is the lastest firmware for that board.

If you look in the center of the board at the bottom the one that has V4.32 is a version 1 board and the other is a version 2 board.

I am pretty sure this is correct.

OK, so I won't be upgrading any of my CTB16PC controllers.  I don't really need any extra speed on that network.  I will be upgrading all of my CCR's from 1.07 to 1.10.  Even the new ones I just bought are at 1.07. The CCR's are on a different network.  Last year I had 4 CCR's on one network.  This year I plan on having 12 on one network.  I'll have to run some tests but I think that with the upgraded firmware I shouldn't have any slowdowns.  If I do, I'll split it into two networks.
