Sheldon_15
I plan to put mini incans in the center of my roof on each side going diagonal... But how would I do this. I can't put clips in the shingles in the centers. I tried but it doesn't work. It's the blue and yellow part of the roof in the picture. What are your opinions? Bob Musil
Maybe this picture helps? I don't like the idea of disturbing the shingles by shoving those clips under them. So, this is a little costly but I used some 1x4's, picked the straightest flattest ones I could find, and then painted them with black oil based paint and screwed the clips to the boards. It's pretty easy to put up and take down and I think it less wear on the roof. To keep them from falling they are all tied together by metal brackets so they can't move. I use around 30 of these around the roof and the lights stay straight as an arrow.DrewLooks great. Do you use the metal brackets at the top of the display? Are the sides attached at all? gmac
If your roof has shingles your might want to consider aluminum facia material.....available at HD or LOWES or most hardward stores, it is extremely pliable and bendable. Cut into say 4x1" strips you could bend the bottom in to a U and slip around the bottom shingle and every so often zip tie your string and slide the aluminum under the shingle as you go up and do the same as the bottom when you get to the top to attach the string to your ridge vent or shinglw cap. I've used this method for 3 seasons now and it works great
gc75067
we have a good angle on our roof. something i thought of trying was running the lights up and over the roofline and then have something with weight on the back side of the roof that will hold things in place
Steven
I use around 30 of these around the roof and the lights stay straight as an arrow. With that many channels, I'd say you should put a controller on the roof and save a bunch of extension cords! viennaxmas
For the past years I have tied PVC pipe to the ridge vent and the gutter. For this year I am also planning to add a few mounts for solar panels to accommodate some larger items...
John2571
I used 1/2 inch pvc in a grid pattern help up by i-bolts under the windows. Hope this helps. (yes I took that picture today, I haven't "gotten around" to taking it down ) http://i1314.photobucket.com/albums/t563/John2571/photo5_zps68a0d8b3.jpg Edited May 1, 2013 by John2571
