plasmadrive
Texas has some very strick regs regarding lasers. If you already have your varience paid your permit fees you should be golden.. but they are heavy on inspections as well I hear. I think only AZ and NY are more heavy handed. You don't have to even own a laser to enjoy these meets. The classes are really informative and fun. I learned how to build Lumias (google laser lumia), laser safety, obtaining variances to Be legal for lasers bigger than the pen lasers you buy in shops...and there's the Laser Shows! Last year...we would have a few hours of classes, demos, discussions...and then, after supper...commence with what ended up being...almost 8 HOURS of Way Cool Laser Shows each night! All kinds of music, beams, graphics, abstracts (jargon) projected until the last person watching (me) agreed to call it a night...more show promised for the next night! Can you Feel my Excitement? In order to make this happen...we have to get people interested. Need peeps that can commit once the dates and venue are set. There is a registration fee, to help cover costs...for participants and a lesser fee for guests to just watch the shows. (participants get the classes and in on the door prizes). Last year the door prizes included a $500 software/hardware package (Pangolin Quickshow) and some expensive Lasers and gear. I can't recommend this event enough! Even if you might think about using a small laser to enhance your lightshow...or not...the laser lightshows are well worth it! Imagine...Professionals (and hobbyists), showing off their creations, exchanging shows, having a great time!
plasmadrive
I know a lot of laser people in Texas.. Most put on pretty good shows.. ILDA just had its annual conference in San Antonio in Nov. I missed it unfortunately.. BTW, I have a 17watt white light ion laser for sale if you want some real power a a cheap price! Last i checked it was putting out about 9 watts of red.. pretty good color balance.
