jonwally
HelloFirst year using LOR and love it. Decided to start playing with DMX so I bought a couple of 3ch controllers and some 5050 RGB LEDs. Just quickly wired everything up using my LOR USB485 dongle as the connection between the PC and controller. Now everything works great when I test it with xLights but when I try to program a different address with CheapDMX's programmer it says module programmed but it’s still responds to the original channels. Any help would be wonderful. Thing I noted that may be a problem is I have only Basic Plus version of S3 but I doubt that’s the problem. Thanks
WilliamS
Actually it might be the license level unless your using the IDMX 1000 LOR requires advanced software to use DMX output. Edited January 9, 2013 by WilliamS
daveo150
+1 to William.........yup, that's (at least part of) your problem.....unless your using the iDMX, LOR won't control native DMX without the advanced license.I noticed you're using the LOR USB485 to output the DMX signal, so take notice that you're going to have the '+1 channel offset' problem. (meaning if you set your device to DMX 1,2,3 you have to set the device in LOR to 2,3,4 and so forth) Edited January 9, 2013 by daveo150
jsachs82
Has anyone heard if LOR will be fixing the issue with the DMX address always being off by 1 in the LOR software?
WilliamS
That wasnt the software it was an attribute of the USB485. The person to ask would be Cracker or CLD Kevin or David from Holiday Coro. I think there is a work around but I do not have the solution.
Ron Boyd
The solution is to shift your channel config by 1. ie. Channel 1 is now channel 2. It has to be done for each controller/element.
plasmadrive
I used my IDMX for the first time this year and I did not experience such an offset. I did start at channel 100 but I set my DMX board to channel 100 and it worked just fine. I used 96 channels after that..
Ken Benedict
The iDMX does not have an offset problem; only the USB485.
Ron Boyd
From my reading while I was trying to set mine up last year, as WilliamS said, it's apparently something to do with the USB 485 outputting the DMX signal into Non-LOR pixels.I'm not an electronics or software person by no means, so I can't say with any certainty. What I do know for a fact though, when I started each of my RGB elements, the effect always started with green, and Green was the first color for the entire chase. Once I shifted the channels +1 in the channel config., everything fell into place like it was supposed too. Now, as far as the LOR CC Pixels I purchased last year, and using another USB 485 on another network, there was not any problems. It all worked like a dream.
plasmadrive
The iDMX does not have an offset problem; only the USB485.Well.. uuummmm... I played wtih an E682 a bit ago and it didn't seem to have the offset.. perhaps I should look again..
Ken Benedict
You're working with three items:The LOR iDMX100 which does not have an offset problem; The Sandevices E682 which does not have an offset problem; The LOR USB485 which DOES have an offset problem.Make sure you're looking at the correct device; there's lots out there to get confused with. Good point! My bad..I do also have one of those Ultra DMX Micro units from DMX King.. I will have to see it that offset problem is there with that. It is USB to DMX.. When I tried it I was just testing to see if It would work and didn't check for address shift. Edited January 13, 2013 by plasmadrive
Ken Benedict
Plasmadrive - I have several of the DMXKing units and they work perfectly; as good as or better than the Enttec Pro units. And it's small enough to carry around in my laptop case.Nicest thing about it is that it generates the DMX string itself, unlike the Enttec Open, which relies on your computer to generate them.
