I have been creating shows all season with the show director/mp3 showbuilder.

After adding some new sequences and music to the files I am now confronted with the following error message, even if i am attempting to create a one song show using trusted sequences:

MESSAGE IN BOX AS FOLLOWS

MP3 PLAYLIST ERROR

There was a problem while attempting to create the MP3 show

current activity: writing sequence file to the SD card

error was : bad file name or number.

After first failed attempt the hardware will give same message immediatley unless computer is rebooted. After reboot hardware will at least attempt to create show for several seconds, Then it seems to hang prior to redisplay of message.

Anyone have a clue?

As of now I cannot create shows with the hardware utility.

Thanks

I just tried programming my MP3 direcotr's sd card for the first time and got the exact same message. Was hoping to find an answer here.

The error states

MP3 Play List Error

THere was a problem while attempting to create the MP3 show

Current Activity: Removing file (S1FILE01.MP#)

Error was: Permisson denied

What causes this and how do I get it to work. I tried several times and delected sequences and still get the same error. It's a brand new LOR1602MP3 director and writed and SD card from Light-O-Rama and it's the first time I tried to program it.

Just some ideas:

Does the same error happen if trying to write the show if using the Hardware Utility (LOR Mp3 tab)? I find it is the most reliable way to copy a show to the card

Make sure write-protect lock switch on the SD card isn't in the locked position.

Make sure that all other LOR programs (sequence editor, visualizer, etc.) are closed, and just the Hardware Utility is opened.

If using an external card-writer (USB), make sure it hasn't unplugged.

Make sure the drive letter for the card-writer shown in the Hardware Utility is the same as what is shown in Windows Explorer (sometimes Windows will shift the letter assignment if another drive was attached, such as a thumb-drive).

As a test of Windows and the writer, can you write a file (a photo file for example) to the card through Windows Explorer (drag and drop the file into the card)?

Thanks for the ideas. I still have an error somewhere though.

I am using the hardware utility (LORMP3 tab) to create the show and write the show to the SD card.

I never knew there was a lock switch on the SD card, but you are right, there is, and it was in the Lock position, so I get excited and thought that was the answer. I moved the switch to the unlock position but I got a different error this time.

MP3 Play List Error

There was a problem while attempting to create the MP3 show.

Current Activity: Copying MP3 file to SD Card

Error was: File not found

I'm new to this, but do you have to write the MP3 songs to the SD Card separately so it can find them there, or are the MP3 file swhich are listed as the media file on the sequence automatically transferred over?

To your other suggestions

all the other LOR programs are closed and just the Hardware Utility is opened.

I'm using the external card writer (USB) bought from Light-O-Rama with the MP3 director. I did notice however that I got the hardware found note as my drive G several times, which I thought was unusual. COuld there be saomething wrong with the USB Writer that they provided me?

And yes, I can write another file direct to the card writer through Windows Explorer.

I'm gratefule for any suggestions as to how to fix this. Thanks.

You start with a blank card (you may want to format it first--check the manual for what format type to use, as I forget), and then just copy the sequences through the HU LOR MP3 tab. No need to copy music files separately.

Hi Surfing4Dough,

Thanks for the suggestions. Light-O-Rama provided me with a 4 GB SD card which they say is already formatted to a FAT16. I don't think the card is the problem as I can load music manually onto it and it will play.

Any other suggestions?
