rainyoregonchristmas
The heavy seasonal rains here tried to take out one of my dripping icicle strings. I had attempted to seal them with liquid tape, but I guess it wasn't good enough. Three of them had more than an inch of water in the bottom of them. Still surprisingly they were working when I discovered the issue, but I was worried so I disassembled and dried them out. In town we are really sheltered from a lot of the wind, but we still had gusts up to 57. My 16 ft mega tree held up fine, the sleeve in the ground is 4' deep buried in heavy clay. Also have three 3/8 inch guy wires so I think it's real solid. So other than tripped GFCI's from heavy wind blown rain, no damage. -RainyOregonChristmas
JeffF
Yesterday two of our 10' trees were well on their way to tipping over from the wind. Luckily we got home from shopping just in time for me to re-attach the bottom rings to their stakes. Basically the wind broke the two zip ties per stake I've used for the past 5 years... first time that's happened. I'll probably upgrade to lashing wire next year so it doesn't happen again. Whatta wet, windy year this has been.
