Steven
Last week we came home and found 2 dollars on the porch. I assumed in was from someone wanting to contribute for the show, until the next day, when I found a broken candlestick in the front. (Easy temporary repair with a steel rod.) I think it may have been somebody's kid on the sidewalk not looking, and his parent making him "pay" for it by putting the dollars on the porch. (Maybe he was asked to ring the doorbell?)Last night, I found another 2 dollars that were put in our mail slot. This time I was worried so I checked the display, but found no damage. I guess it was someone wanting to pay for the entertainment.
shfr26
I have been offered a 100 dollar bill twice this year and my answer is always the same. " I don't take donations, I do it the your enjoyment". I just can't do it. I was floored that two different people would offer $100.00 to watch some lights. Make me feel I must be doing something right with my lights.
Brett H.
We had the same the first year and then decided we would put a donation box up and ALL donations go to a local charity. I couldnt take anything for putting on the light display. I do it for enjoyment but if people are willing to donate money at least we then give it all to a local charity and help them out. A bunch of us are putting all donations to http://newtownmemorialfund.org/. Anything we can do to help out.

dknahoolewa
I thoughout it would be neat to do a Santa's Mailbox this year. It hasn't turned out as well as I would have liked but then it is the first year for it and the mailbox kind of looks like it has a mohawk with the lights. Two different mornings i have found a dollar and $5 in the mailbox. I'm guessing that they didn't listen to the part about what the mailbox was for and though it was a donation box.

Ivan Beaver
I take up food for the local food bank. From time to time I find money in the buckets. I take that money and they buy food and give that to the food bank. The food bank does not take cash.It makes people feel good to give. And I enjoy taking the donations to the food bank to help out others. What I get out of it is seeing other people enjoying the show. When I see the little kids dancing out front-it is touching.
