Rookie questions for PS1 and E1.31 setup on LOR

Hey guys. This forum has been very helpful so far. I found the driver post to clear the error I was getting on the control panel. Everything looks good from the control panel, but I'm not getting my lights to light up with LOR software. I did check to make sure my control lights option was selected in the sequence editor. I'm running 2 150 pixel TM1809 ribbons. Here is the output from my LOR control panel:

2012-12-09 20:54:44 30:Listener [iNFO ] Listening on port 8837

2012-12-09 20:54:45 32:Listener [iNFO ] Connection accepted (508)

2012-12-09 20:54:45 509:DMX1 [iNFO ] E1.31u1: E1.31 universe 1 opened on 1

92.168.1.206/1

2012-12-09 20:55:00 32:Listener [iNFO ] Connection accepted (400)

Question 1: My PS1 is set up on socket/port 1, so do I need to change it to socket/port 8837? So is the PS1 talking back to the PC on port 8837?

Here is my PS1 output:

Question 2: Am I running the wrong Chip for my ribbons?

In LOR Network Preferences, try setting the Protocol to Multicast instead of specifying the ip address of the PS1.

The PS1 listens to multicast messages from the LOR software. Leave the port #'s at their defaults (5569 for DMX universes, and 8837 for the DMX listener)

pdub,

I don't think you need to change the configuration of the PS1 at all. If you are sending the E1.31 data on the standard multicast ip and port #'s.

these should be:

Universe 1 - 239.255.0.1 Multicast - Port 5568

Universe 2 - 239.255.0.2 Multicast - Port 5568

Universe 3 - 239.255.0.3 Multicast - Port 5568

and so on.

You then configure the sockets for the universe you want using the DMX command on the PS1.

Make sure your control panel is showing up in your system tray.

Also if you want to control the lights using the sequence editor, make sure any shows are DISABLED. (your light bulb in the system tray should be red)

The control panel can only control one (1) thing at a time.. either a show or the sequence editor

Thanks for the assistance. I am controlling the lights!!!! Broke a chip on my ribbon so I had to break out the soldering iron last night to do a little splcing repair. Any suggestions on making the ribbon waterproof again? Can I just put silicone over my soldering splice?
