8 universe ethernet to DMX interface (DMX-ALN-08A from Acclaim Lighting)

Due to the large number of DMX channels I needed, I bought yesterday the DMX-ALN-08A from Acclaim Lighting. The link to the product is:

DMX-ALN-08A but I was not able to get it working.

The IP address from the device is by default 172.16.0.250. I modified the IP address from my portable computer to the address 172.16.0.249 and I set the subnetmask to 255.255.255.0

In the Lightorama sequencer I went to the window LOR Advanced Network Preferences and I made a choice for E1.31 and I put as specific address 172.16.0.250 and port:0 for Universe 1, 172.16.0.250 port:1 for universe 2 etc.

I put the listener port to 5568

But it is not running and I don't know why. I hope that somebody can help me.

What's the IP address of your computer? With a subnet mask of what you have, it needs to start 172.16.0.xxx. Otherwise, you need to put a router between the network your computer is on, and the network your bridge is on.

Just because they are on the same wire doesn't mean they are on the same network.

I would disable your firewall and antivirus first.

Use the ping command from a DOS window (command prompt) to ping the device.

First PING your laptop

C:\ PING 172.16.0.249

If you get a response, it means that your laptop is good..

C:\ PING 172.16.0.250

If you get a response, it means that your connection to the DMX device is good.

I would then wonder if the port is set correctly on your software and the DMX controller.

Is the DMX device setup to recieve commands on the same port?

I am not familar with that DMX device..

Looking at the instructions they tell you to:

If you are using the AL-Net 8 Node you will enter 171.16.0.3 in the IP address section and 255.255.255.0

in the Subnet Mask section.

Personally, I'd configure the LOR network configuration for multicast and not worry about a specified IP address on the controller. Just make sure that the multicast traffic is isolated from your regular network, or it may cause some problems.

The address of my computer is 172.16.0.249

It is in the same range as the IP address from the controller 172.16.0.250.

The strange thing is that when I ping to the unit I don't receive any answer.

When I start the Madrix software the system works properly without changing something everything works fine.

But with Light-O-Rama software no results.
