David Barnett Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 (edited) OK, this is driving me nuts! The other night, I set up my show conputer(laptop, plenty of power) windows 7 home premium. UAC disabledI follwe d the instructions setting up my CCB's. I have 2 sets.with BobO's help; I was able to convert my old LED tree effects to the CCB's. We spilt things up into the S1p1,s2p2 etc. using a LR of 2%.Due to the fact I'm using some CCR arches as well. I elected to put the CCB's on Aux A. This i new to me, but I believe I have it set up properly.IN the HWU, I assigned 1 CCB set(ie 2 strings) to address 0B.Selected the dual normal, and the other settings as per the manual. My second CCB is set to address 0D. Again using dual normal; and all other appropriate settings. They show this way in the SE as well. The AuxA is using Comm port 8. Regular network, using Comm port 7. When I hook up the USB 45B to the port, it is found no problem. I then refresh my network, it find both CCB's no problem. Version 1.12 firmware. In LOR SE, I set my network pref. to Comm 7 Reg. network; and Comm 8 Aux A.I then verified, that my CCB's strand 1 and strand 2's , of each were set to Aux A via Channel Config. I jsut had the lights loosely laying on the floor. Played my seq's (8) they worked great. Everyhitng checked out fine. Now, we come to tonight. I have a sort of teepee type tree frame. I wrapped my sets of CCB's around that tree frame. Hooked the appropriate leads in the respecive slots. Ie I marked Strand 1 pixel1, and strand 2 pixel 1.I then ran the HWU. This is problems began. It located both CCB's at the correct addresses. However, 0D was showing as Unknown device. So, I made sure the units were isolated.0B shows up fine. I then hooked up 0D by itself. Recognized fine. I then hooked each Cat5e cable to the USB45B box. Green lights were steady. I then ran HWU again, this time the 0B showed unknown device, and 0D was normal. refreshed netwok. Finds the units but 0B still shows unknown device. Then another refresh, it shows0D unknown and 0B normal....AGGGHHH. Driving me crazy. Then tried another refresh, this time both were recognized. Brand new Cat5e cables.Sooo, closed out HWU unloaded LOR control panel, and opened up LOR SE.Loaded up one of my sequences that worked fine last night. Verified the Control Lights was selected, also verified the Aux A network shows Comm 8.. Verified my sequence shows Aux A for the network. Check everything set.Hit Play:.......Nothing ! NADA! the CCB's are dark. Sequence is playing OK. I did notice, that when I hit the stop playing button, the sequence continued....that was a little wierd. Had to exit LOR SE for the seq. to stop. This is version 3.8 Advanced..clean Install. So, at this moment, I'm dead in the water. HELP!!! What am I missing? I'm new to the Aux netwok stuff, so maybe I've screwed something up with that setup.I'm at my wits end.Best,DavidEDIT; Well, decided to do my 3rd reset of the controllers. Test pattern worked fine. Checked in HWU, again doing the screwy unknow device stuff. After the 3rd refresh, it finally saw both untis without the unknown device.Shut down HWU, unloaded the LOR control panel.Started LOR SE, verified setting, ensure Control lights selected.....IT WORKED! Sequences are controlling CCB's now. So, I'm still clueless; but happy nonthe less.Best,David Edited December 7, 2012 by David Barnett
Chagoi Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 ahhh, this brings back memories....but only from a week ago. I went through a similar problem. I found it is easier to use normal rather than dual normal as it did nothing but complicate things with dual normal. I also found that each controller seems to function better on its own network. Wait for a power outage/trip. I would be interested in knowing if your problems restart. They did for me until I threw them on separate networks. I have 2 DC lor controllers that love to reset their ID's to 1 on a power trip. The whole hardware ID thing is not as stable as people would imagine in my opinion.
