Light-O-Rama in Australia

Just wanted to drop in and say hi from down under. I am new to Light-O-Rama and planning on jumping in the at 112 channels.

I'll be doing the show in Australia and I was wondering if it was possible to get controllers that natively support the 240 current and the plugs we have. I read somewhere that someone here, in AU was able to order the controllers with the adjust made. I've sent Light-O-Rama an email about a month ago and never heard from them.

LOR does have 240v versions of the controllers. However, at this time they are out of the power cords. (See the notice at store.lightorama.com.)

I had completely overlooked that page! I read somewhere to make sure that the controllers support 24v lights, do they? Is there a page I could read up on the Australian Light Controllers? I assume they are just about identical to the American ones, but nonetheless, if there is a page to read up on, Id great appreciate that. My last question is do you ship to Australia if not, and if I were to ship it to a friend in the states and then get him to ship them too me, would that void my warranty?

Not sure about the 24v lights.

I do not ship to Australia, but LOR does.

LOR's warranty is "to the first end user." If it was shipped to a friend in the US, I would imagine LOR would consider that the first end user. (That said, I have no doubt LOR would work with you on any warranty issues.)

The Australian are identical to the US ones, save for a few internal components (and power cords.) Any reading you do about the controllers will apply in either country (aside from obvious electrical differences.)

LOR certainly has 240V AC controllers suitable for Australia. They used to be identical with the 110V models but had a jumper that was used to switch between 110 & 240V. The newer 240V boards appear to have some differences in the circuitry as well as still having the jumper.

There are many LOR users down under, including myself. I have been using their boards and software for about 8 years very successfully. Many of the Australian users now prefer to use the DC boards as these are much better suited to our Australian low voltage lights, (as well as being less expensive). There is however a bit bigger learning curve as light string modifications are required as well as some understanding of LED operation. (Note: modifications are still required on Australian strings with power packs and multi-function controllers to disaable the controllers to operate with LOR)

Many of the Aussie LOR users are members on the Australian lighting forum http://auschristmaslighting.com/forums/index.php . This forum has moved on from the basic LOR style computer light control to pixel based RGB lighting with with high channel counts. It still however does provide a good contact point for local LOR users

Thanks for all of your information. I didn't know LOR also had an option for DC boards. I plan on just using the regular light, rope lights, C9, C7, icicles, and mini lights. That all should be fine to use. Do you happen to know of a place to buy a bunch of lights online in bulk? I'd like to try and get four separate colours; white, red, green and blue.

Have a look here http://www.mytbritelights.com.au/ I am using 4 LOR 240v controllers for the 1st time this year and am using these lights. All working great and have had some very positive feedback on my display.

As another option - we bought our controllers set at 240v (except I live in Ireland, not Australia xD) and we had them come WITHOUT the cables etc, so when we got the box itself, we just had an electrician rewire it with Irish connections and it works perfectly

Well this is good to know as i'am a beginner with This and this is my second year and i bought in from isa my equipment it it does suit our power plugs
