how do you change comm ports on a rs 485? Do you have to uninstall the driver program?

Are you talking about the physical USB port? Or the assigned serial comm port number?

I think its the assigned comm port. I'm trying to connect to a hub and 3 of the 485 read as the same comm port. I didn't think I could have 3 rs485's pluged into a hub with the same comm port number.

That is a new problem for me. I know that usually depending on what port I plug the adapter into, will automatically assign a serial port. Then going into the control panel and system and then dropping down to the comm port tab, you can force assign a serial port provided it is not already assigned.

Pulling one out of the old posterior. Have you tried with the computer booted, install one adapter at a time? and if you have and that did not work. Have you gone into the control panel and drill down to the comm ports. Can you see 3 adapters? And if so can you force the comm port address on one but does not effect the other two?

Good luck.
