ken collins Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 how do you change comm ports on a rs 485? Do you have to uninstall the driver program?
Max-Paul Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Are you talking about the physical USB port? Or the assigned serial comm port number?
ken collins Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 I think its the assigned comm port. I'm trying to connect to a hub and 3 of the 485 read as the same comm port. I didn't think I could have 3 rs485's pluged into a hub with the same comm port number.
Max-Paul Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 That is a new problem for me. I know that usually depending on what port I plug the adapter into, will automatically assign a serial port. Then going into the control panel and system and then dropping down to the comm port tab, you can force assign a serial port provided it is not already assigned.Pulling one out of the old posterior. Have you tried with the computer booted, install one adapter at a time? and if you have and that did not work. Have you gone into the control panel and drill down to the comm ports. Can you see 3 adapters? And if so can you force the comm port address on one but does not effect the other two?Good luck.
