Christmasnut Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 I am new to lightorama. My son and i have just set up a 32 channel system. We are using a laptop and wireless outdoor speakers. Our problem is that even with the computer and speakers set to maximum volume the volume on the speakers outside is not loud enough.Any help would be appreciated.WayneChristmasnut
Aaron Maue Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Sounds like you only have a couple of options. Need to get higher powered speakers (maybe a dedicated amp). Or broadcast via FM transmitter so people can tune in via their car radios.
djg64 Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 i had the same problem with my speakers I found that I needed to run the speakers thru an amplifier to boost the power to the speakers
scubado Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Garage sales and pawn shops can be great places to get good speakers and amps for cheap.
Herbaclaus Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Same problem. I used an old receiver I had from yesteryear and ran my mp3 thru that. I also used Audacity to jack my volumes up some. I read about Audacity and MPGain on here and that was great advice for my volume issues.
Gone LED Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Try this Lepai amplifier from Amazon. I bought it for the exact reason you need. It works great. I did need to turn down the bass a bit to make sure the amp did not skip during louder portions of some songs, but you can hear it across the street fine. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=amplifierI also used these Dual speakers from Amazon. They have been perfect.http://www.amazon.com/Dual-LU43PB-Indoor-Outdoor-Speakers/dp/B00081NX5U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1353869405&sr=8-3&keywords=outdoor+speakersBoth items are usually on sale if you use Amazon Prime. Good luck.
papap Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 I have a Bose sound dock outside plus FM. The Bose is great.
csimmon5 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I use my old gemmy light controller with speaker I got a few yrs back before i got into LOR....it works perfect, amplified and has volume control. Its the whole package. If you can find one for cheap, it is worth it. http://www.hsn.com/home-decor/winter-lane-musical-holiday-light-show-timer_pf-177381_xp.aspx?&mr:referralID=a7b6cf35-37d2-11e2-97b3-001b2166becc&rdr=1&cm_mmc=Shopping%20Engine-_-PLA-_-Home%20Decor-_-6743601
craigsrobotics Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 eBay search: FIRST ACT GAMING OR GUITAR AMPLIFIER ..... works great for me, and plenty loud enough only at 1/4 volume...I use them for all of my audio needs on my Halloween animatronics as well...can't beat the price and value of these ....
TJ Hvasta Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Go to Goodwill, look for a set of amplified desktop speakers (prefereably with metal cases).. I've been using a set for last 4yrs..
