Jacksback72 Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I have (5) LOR1602W's and I have upgraded them to 40 amps each. I just purchased (3) CTB16PC controllers and they are listed as 30 amps - Can I upgrade these controllers to 40 amps each? Thanks,Bill

Tim Benson Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 The hardware can handle 40 amps, but if you mount them in the plasticenclosure, they can't get the heat out fast enough to run at that load.If you used a larger enclosure that was made out of metal, and mountedit directly to the enclosure, you might be OK. I'm running all my PC controllersat 20 amps. (single feed)Tim
Jacksback72 Posted July 25, 2007 Author Posted July 25, 2007 That makes sense now regarding the enclosurer - All of the LOR1602's are big metal enclosurers. Thanks for the infoBill
Tim Benson Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Check out the following thread:http://lightorama.mywowbb.com/forum25/12908.htmlThey only tested at 30Amps because of the plastic enclosure. There is a reply from Dan in that thread talking about the board design.I do agree, however that if you want to run at 40 Amps you shoulduse the CTB-16D. I have 5 of the 16D's and 4 of the 16PC's.I use the 16D's to run the C9's on the house. I really like the 16PCbecause of the nice design with the enclosure. I pretty sure thatall of my future controllers will be the PC version.Tim
