Slaska7629 Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Running version 3.8 advance. Last year ran 10 boxes. This year 15 boxes 5 are 12V. System is set to same distance as last year. Using about 1000ft of Cat 5. However Hardware utility this year when trying to find all 15 controlers keeps comming up with random units like 88 or higher. If I remove one controler from the network hardware utlity works fine and finds 14 units. It does not matter which controler I remove from the network. One other strange things is the ELL on the hardware configuration comes up some time. I don't have ELL units. Any suggestions? Thanks Scott
-klb- Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Have you been mooving around the same cable when you remove controllers? It sounds potentially like a bad cable. Or possibly a duplicated address, if there are actually only 2 who make the difference when removed.
Max-Paul Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Had something simular happen to me this year. My show computer was getting about 7 or 8 ghost addressed boxes. Took my laptop out to the first controller. No problems all 12 accounted for. Got a splice in the garage and laptop IDed all 12. Back at the show computer with the laptop and again only 12 controllers. Put the cable back on the show tower computer and get 13, 17, 19, or 20 controllers. Thank goodness I have my old laptop still loaded with LOR. So show computer is going to be my old laptop, till I get the tower computer figured out.
Slaska7629 Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Regarding the first reply it occurs on more than two controlers. I tried the bad cable route on several boxes no luck.Only one computer no lap top. I ran the hardware utility untill I had confirmed address for the 15 boxes. No choice but to go live tonight.
