Loutampa
So close to the switch on and tonight, I ran a complete test on 10 sequences, unfortunately, I have 20 channels that I have used the Home Depot brand ofECOSMART 100 Ultra WR Super Bright Icicle LED's,and do they shimmer or fade, NOHow can I quickly repair this massive problem.I have read about glade or air wick plugins, do they really work?,and if so, do you plug them in at the end of the string or at the beginning.I have read about snubbers but I have no time to order and install now, perhaps a night light might work.. Please, please, please, any help would be greatly welcomed.ThanxLou
dgrant
I didn't buy any of those from Home Depot so I don't know them but I did make the mistake of buying "Marha" lights from them which also will not dim or fade. I can explain why but its easier to just tell you to take them back and get your money back. All of the lights I've bought from Target and BiigLots, dim and fade just fine. I've also got a few from Lowes which work as well but I do not have very many of their's or different types of their's...You will not be able to get your's to fade as it is right now. LORisAwesome
A snubber or air freshener might fix the fading problem, but, since they don't shimmer I'm not sure.It is at least worth a try. It doesn't matter where you plug it in as long as it is in the same circuit as the string with the problem.Jerry

Loutampa
Thanx for the replies guys.I was hoping to go an easy route like air freshners or something.FrozenTundra, if it's an easy job with items easily purchased from Radio Shack, then perhaps I could give it a try.Can you email me the pictures please..Thanx again guys, with switch on imminent, well, I need to work fast.Lou

LORisAwesome
An air Freshener, a snubber, or a string of incandescent lights on the same channel as your LED string that is giving your trouble will all do the same job.If I were you, I'd try the air freshener, or add at least one incandescent light, and see if the problem goes away. If it does, you can always make snubbers later...Jerry
Loutampa
FrozenTundraMy email iscitysafecell@aol.comIf the air freshener doesn't work, then I will need your pictures. ThanxJerry, I will try the air freshner on the string, it's the quickest way out.But do you place it at the front or the end of the string.,Thanx GuysLou
LORisAwesome
The placement of the air freshener doesn't matter, it just needs to be on the same channel as the LED string...Jerry
SWood
Or an incandescent night light, thats what i used last year at the last minute. I built snubbers for this year like these http://forums.planetchristmas.com/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F36988-easiest-terminatorssnubbers-to-make%2Fpage__hl__snubber they are super easy to make. Max-Paul
Well I might be all wet behind the ears but I dont think the snubbers or air fresheners are going to work. Sounds like your strings might have the rectifier and a filter cap in the plug. Although they could also put these in a wire wart as we like to call them. The problem is that the filter cap defeats the shimmer and fade voltages to the LED strings. There is no way around it other than major surgery to the string.Best advice yet. Take them back and find some other LED strings as suggested above. Looks like H.D. is offering up lights that are not compatible with LOR this year. Loutampa
Well, I took back all the lights I had to HD.Went to Target and found some nice looking Philips ones.Hopefully these will work,, but only if the freshners don't.Replacing 10 long strings at this late hour is not nice. But I am hopeful that the Air Freshner will work.I bought 2 for $1.54 and I will test out tonight. If they work, I shall post,If they don't, I will also post.Fingers crossed...Lou
Loutampa
Well, good news and bad news.I placed the fresheners in line and the strings DID shimmer and twinkle. But NO fade. They did twinkle before but no shimmer...So it's a replacement of the strings that is left.Guess what I'm doing at dawn tomorrow.. But thanx for everyone's input on this.I did appreciate it.At least we know now about Fresheners, right..Lou
